The Anglo American Group Foundation contributes to the formalization of the artisanal diamond mining sector as a regular major supporter of the Diamond Development Initiative and its programs in favour of artisanal diamond miners and their communities. The Antwerp World Diamond Center is helping to improve the conditions of diamond miners and their communities by providing regular operational support to DDI. The World Diamond Center of Antwerp (CMDA) is a foundation created by the diamond industry, whose mission is to serve and support the diamond trade in Antwerp, the world’s largest diamond hub. The CMDA actively promotes the diamond sector locally and abroad.
The De Beers Group of Companies has been supporting the work of DDI in the formalization of the artisanal mining sector since 2008. De Beers is a member of the Anglo American group. The Diamond Producers Association (DPA) supports DDI’s core work of formalizing the artisanal diamond mining sector and promoting of best practices throughout the diamond industry. DPA’s partnership with DDI also includes targeted education programs for governments, industry, and the general public/consumers. In operation since January 2016, the Diamond Producers Association (DPA) exists to maintain and enhance consumer demand for, and confidence in natural diamonds. By promoting the integrity and reputation of natural diamonds and the diamond industry, the DPA will play a central role in ensuring the long term sustainability of the sector.
